Pavlo Klimkin

Born on 25 December 1967, Pavlo graduated from the physics and mathematics school No. 145 in Kyiv in 1995. He studied at the Department of Aerophysics and Space Research of the Moscow Physics and Technology Institute from 1985 to 1991. From 1991 to 1993, he worked as a researcher at the Paton Electric Welding Institute. In 1993, he began working for the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the fields of disarmament, weapons control, and non-proliferation. He has worked at Ukrainian embassies in Germany and the UK, including as the Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany in 2012–2014. He was the head of the Ukrainian delegation at the negotiations regarding the Ukraine–EU Association Agreement. From 2014 to 2019, Klimkin served as the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs. At the moment, he works as a senior researcher at the Carnegie Foundation and a member of the supervisory boards of the Come Back Alive and Renaissance Foundations.
