Current Time will present two awards within the pitchings of the Docudays UA Industry Platform

09 February 2022

For the fifth year in a row, Docudays UA has been cooperating with the independent television and digital network Current Time (USA). This year, Current Time will support one of the projects of the Ukrainian Doc Preview showcase. The network will also award a prize at the presentation of the short film projects Civil Pitch 2.0.

During the presentation, Ukrainian Doc Preview participants will compete for a $2,000 prize from Current Time and the Civil Pitch 2.0 team — for a reward of $ 1,500.

Kenan Aliyev, executive editor of Current Time TV, "The recent rumblings in Ukraine have left many of us to worry, and like many calamities, forced us to focus on what is important. I think we can all agree without much trouble that peace and human rights are inviolable and must be cherished. But creativity and the power of individual voices must also be protected and supported. This is our mission as documentary filmmakers in war and peace."

Natalia Arshavskaya, сommissioning editor of Current Time TV, "In the past two years, the world has been going through much trouble which damaged the whole industry, but specifically documentary film production. We think that the key to overcoming all the difficulties is to continue filming. The show must go on! All stages of production are crucial, but nowadays it is getting harder and harder to start from scratch. We think that it is very important to help the developing projects with this uneasy beginning. That’s why we decided to give the Current Time Award to projects which have not yet been completed. Thus, the prize will go to the most appealing project from Ukrainian Film Preview and to the unmissable topic from Civil Pitch."

Current Time is an active supporter of documentary filmmaking and in particular Ukrainian one. Thus, the network became a co-producer of the full-length film Infinity According to Florian (directed by Oleksiy Radynski), which had its world premiere at the 51st International Film Festival Rotterdam. Last year, Oleksiy Radynsky's film was presented within the Ukrainian Doc Preview, and earlier, a short version of the film Facade Colour: Blue was created within the Civil Pitch 1.0.

Please note that the submission of the projects for participation in the Ukrainian Doc Preview is open until 13 February. Read more about the conditions here.

The application deadline for Civil Pitch 2.0 is 18 February. Read more about the open call here.
