In autumn Docudays UA together with America House invites to a film and discussion program ‘Propaganda 2.0: new dimensions’. Meetings will take place each second Friday from September to October. Beginning is at 19.00.
It is not easy to identify modern propaganda. It has developed a new face and lies in wait for us in unexpected places. We can retell or retwitt unverified information and thus become another cog in this many-faced machine. Propaganda distorts reality and manipulates us. However, at the same time it can fulfill useful functions in society. The common project of America House and Docudays UA aims at helping people to identify and analyze propaganda in its various aspects.
Film and discussion program ‘Propaganda 2.0: new dimensions’ presents best films of this year Docudays UA, among which there is a set of Ukrainian short films about volunteer initiatives, a film about religious extremism in Russia, a film about how Israeli-Palestenian conflict is transmitted onto the next generation, and an ironic experiment of an Estonian theater dedicated to an election company.
After screenings there will be discussions for audience of topics raised in films with experts invited and mainly with Maksym Butkevych, a human rights activist and a journalist, Nina Khodorivska, a culture expert and a Theatre for dialogue activist, Iryna Kogut, a CEDOS expert, Oleksandra Matviychuk, Chairwoman of the Center for Civil Liberties NGO.
