Discussion ‘Human Rights Journalism: Sex, Drugs, Human Rights’ and presentation of a media-portal of Human Rights Information Center
White hall, Cinema House
Human rights may become a lingua franca for the journalists who aim to avoid the fate of becoming propaganda machines or being deluded by those giving comments. The participating journalists, advocates, and civil activists will try to answer the following questions:
Can a journalist act as an advocate, or journalists should only remain uninvolved and document the events?
Advocacy journalism / human rights journalism – a trendy vocation or the demand of today’s reality
Advocate to a journalist: a partner or merely a source?
A journalist’s challenge: write and forget or follow the case till its happy ending?
Is the way advocates inform about their activities via their media really informative and interesting?
Also: a presentation of the news portal by Human Rights Information Center. The website editors will tell about the ways journalists and advocates can cooperate under the circumstances of information war and propaganda.
