Alexander Glyadyelov (Ukraine), photographer
Since mid-80s, has been self-educating in photography, since 1989 works as professional independent photographer. Glyadelov has been shooting in Europe, Middle Asia, Africa, and the USA. Has been covering armed conflicts in Moldova, where he was injured, in Nagorny Karabakh, in Chechnya and Ukraine, where he was injured again. Since 1996, focuses on long-term documentary photo projects, presenting his works in exhibition form. Since 1997 until present time, Glyadelov actively cooperates with international humanitarian organization Medecins Sans Frontieres.
Aleksandr’s photographs were used by such international organizations as MSF, HRW, The Global Fund, UNAIDS, UNICEF. Among his awards are: the Grand-Prix of Ukrpressphoto-97, Hasselblad Award at the European photography competition in Vevey, Switzerland Images'98; Mother Jones 2001 Medal of Excellence at the International Documentary Photography Foundation in San Francisco, USA; Moving Walls 2002 by the Open Society Institute (OSI) in New York, USA, and others. He is the author of more than 30 personal exhibitions in different countries. Has published three books.
Alexander Glyadyelov's photography exhibition You See, My Brother?, which tells a story of the revolution and the war in Ukraine, takes place from 19th until 26th of March in Dim Mykoly Gallery (vul. Ivana Mazepy (Lavrska), 13). The exhibition is open every day from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m.
