While politicians and diplomats from the West and East are trying to assess geopolitical challenges that the Arab Spring has posed; and while international media are analyzing the risks to global security; for Ukrainians it's essential to look at the Arab Uprising from a different perspective. That’s why  10th Docudays UA firstly presents special program the “Arab Spring”. “It is an opportunity to see ourselves from a distance, to see how other societies learn to be mature and responsible, and that a revolution is not an event but a process”, - says the moderator of this program Nataliya Gumenyuk, independent journalist specializing in foreign affairs.

The “Arab Spring” program consists of three ukrainian premières. The film from Tunisia “It Was Better Tomorrow” (dir. Hinde Boujemaa) shows the atypical journey of the poor and bold woman Aida in the intense interval of a country’s revolution. British project “The Reluctant Revolutionary” (dir. Sean McAllister) describes an intimate portrait of Yemen as the revolution unfolds offering poignant moments of reflection, loss, anger and hope on the unknown road to revolution and change.  The creative team of “Back to the Square” (Norway, Canada) has been inspired by the very beginning of the revolution in January in Egypt. Petr Lom, the director of the film, follows five people who have suffered injustice at the hands of the current post-revolutionary military regime.
