The 5th edition of the MHRFF The 5th edition of the MHRFF Submissions to the MHRFF 2010

The mission of the Montreal Human Rights Film Festival (MHRFF) is to create through film, a space for discussion and reflection on issues related to human rights and freedom.

The 5th edition of the MHRFF will take place in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, from March 11-21, 2010.

The MHRFF is composed of 3 sections:
An international film program;
A Quebec film program;
A Youth Program for 7-17 year olds

Awards and Juries

- The MHRFF Grand Prize for Documentaries is awarded to the best documentary feature film or television film dealing with human rights.
- The MHRFF Grand Prize for Fiction is awarded to the best feature film or television film dealing with human rights.
- The MHRFF Grand Prize for short films is awarded to the best short film (fiction, documentary or animation) dealing with human rights.
- The Special Audience Award is attributed by the non-professional public. They are asked to vote for the film, selected from the entire program, which is most deserving of official recognition.

The juries will be made up of Canadian and international personalities, drawn from the fields of cinema, the arts and culture and human rights. All the films will be presented in competition for the Audience Prize. Recent films produced after January 1, 2008 will be submitted on a priority basis to the juries.

Eligibility of Works

The Festival hosts feature films and television films as well as shorts, documentaries, fiction and animation. Works submitted for consideration must be relevant to the mission of the MHRFF and connected to the theme of Human Rights. They must be in their original version, and preferably subtitled in French or English.

How to Participate in the Festival?

1) Read the regulations of the Festival
2) Fill in the application form
online or in PDF format
3) Send a DVD copy of your film, enclosed with the application form, duly filled in and signed, to the following address:

The deadline for submitting your film is November 22, 2009.
