History of the Human Rights Documentary Film Festival

It was first started in 2003.
In November - December 2003 ? the First Human Rights Documentary Film Festival took place (organized by the UN Delegation in Ukraine and the civic organization ? the Centre for Modern Information Technology and the Visual Arts)

May 2005:

The Second Human Rights Documentary Film Festival.
This was viewed by people in eight regions of Ukraine: Kyiv,. Sumy, Lviv, Sevastopol, Odessa, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, in cinemas, clubs, art centres, schools, lyceums and higher educational institutions. The Festival events were attended by more than 30 thousand people.

20 May 2006:

The Third Human Rights Documentary Film Festival began in KyivFrom September to December 2006 human rights documentary film festivals were held in a 9 of regions. According to initial figures, the number of viewers and participants in special events in Kyiv and the regions was over 50 thousand.

October - November 2006:

An agreement was reached to include the human rights documentary film festival run by the UN Delegation in Ukraine into the Festival  Ukrainian Context.

December 2006:

At the IDFA international festival in Amsterdam the Festival became part of the international network of human rights film festivals
